Moving from a poor country to a rich a country makes me a part of the global economy. To work and to earn more are the reasons why people moved. Working away from your home country to earn more can help a lot for the family. You can give your family more food to eat, clothes to wear and extra money for what they need and want. The bad part of it is that you are lonely, by being far from your family as what I read in the the essay of "love and gold". I short, people who moved to a rich country is to have a better paying job. In this way, I have the same situation with the people who were interviewed in the essay. I come here to earn more and to send money to my family in order for them to live a better life. On the other hand, I have to financially support for myself also.

Levine's story or poem tells us that work is not easy to get. One has to apply for it and to be hired. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you will be accepted but if not sorry. Then you need someone to be with you for emotional support. This relates to the book written by Ehrenreich, where people has to wait for a long period of time and after he/she will just be rejected.

I would say that my family background belongs to the middle class. My father had a regular work that can support the family. Although , my mother is not working, we have food on the table everyday and they can afford to send us to school. Being in the middle class, it means to me that I don't belong either to the rich or to the poor category. As long as I can go to school, eat, and buy what I need- that's the most important. I don't buy what I want as what the rich people does. I think being in the middle class, a person has to have a stable and regular job. While a working class, a person has no stable job but he/she works everyday.

ethnic community

I am petite with black hair and chinky eyes. I have some percentage of Chinese blood, but I was not born in China. By looking at my eyes, one can say right away that I am Chinese. My status now is Chinese, although I would prefer that they will say that I am Asian. Most people from Asia like China, Malaysia, The Philippines, and Japan have similar appearance and body structure. So, I don't mind that people will say that I am Chinese.

Business! business! that's my growing up life. My father is a businessman in our country. He is the one in charge of all the financial needs of the family. His business is wholesale/retail of rice and corn. Everyday is a routine for him, open the store at 8:00 am and closed at 7:00 pm. My mother is a housewife. She is in charge of everything in the house. As what my father always said, be honest and patient to the people you deal with so they will support you and that business will grow or become successful. As I grow up, it's in my mind not to follow my parents work. I don't like business, it's too much for me. I can't imagine doing the same things everyday for seven days. It's so boring. If I am going to choose a work, it must be the one that I like to do.
